Since becoming a freelance photographer in 2002 I’ve worked with various clients and assisted many established photographers allowing me to have developed technical skills and a style that is very much my own.
From 2003 I’ve regularly photographed social events and portraits for press related articles. This has given me a strong reportage style and excellent social and networking skills which allow me to blend seamlessly into any scene. I am often recommended and hired for my ability to capture the atmosphere and essence of any occasion.
In 2005 I became a freelance photographer for The Click Studios, further enhancing my portraiture skills in a more formal style – a necessity for group or family photos which are often required at functions and events. Recommendations have led to work at weddings, barmitzvahs, parties and portraiture for actors and musicians.
2005 also brought about an interest in fashion and beauty photography and I currently work with a number of model agencies providing test shoots for their models. This remains a strong interest and I’m keen to take on further assisting, editorial and commercial work in this area.
2006 saw me venture into the world of corporate portraiture with clients such as E-xcellent Health and Contact4Me. In spring 2006 I got my first big break into editorial photography when I was offered a years worth of monthly front covers for one of the ‘Take a Break’ magazines. It was a proud moment seeing my own photographs beaming from shelves in newsagents!
The style I developed from having worked with ‘Take a Break’ magazine (still-life items and interiors with a lifestyle feel) led to a new business venture – arasilla photography – a partnership between myself and stylist Lara Gee. Some of our pictures can be found in the portfolio section of my website (look for the image code ‘arasilla photography’). These photos are now with various picture libraries ready to be bought and sold all around the world.
Further editorial work followed, ranging from product shots such as studio photos of Asprey diaries, through to reportage, working for publications as diverse as The Mail on Sunday, The Independent on Sunday and Flipside magazine.
